Qualification overview

This qualification forms part of the QA First Aid suite of qualifications. The qualification and learning outcomes are based on the recommendations of:

• Resuscitation Council (UK)
• Assessment Principles for Regulated First Aid Qualifications
• Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)

This QA qualification is for people who work with or look after children, enabling them to have a basic knowledge of how to deal with paediatric first aid situations which can arise when looking after children.

This qualification outlines a range of practical skills for providing first aid to infants and children. Learners will practise assessing and managing an incident and demonstrate how to treat a variety of serious conditions.

Objective

The objective of the qualification is to benefit Learners by enabling them to attain the knowledge and practical competencies needed to deal with a range of Paediatric first aid situations when looking after children.

Purpose

The purpose of this qualification is to prepare the Learner to develop the skills and knowledge needed to provide effective first aid to children and Infants.

Intended audience

This qualification is for people who have a specific responsibility at work, or in voluntary and community activities, to provide first aid to infants and children when dealing with:

• An emergency situation
• Chronic or sudden paediatric illness 
• Paediatric injury

This paediatric first aid course meets the requirements of the Early Years foundation stage statutory framework. The course focuses on emergency scenarios that are faced by professionals, including teachers, au pairs and playgroup leaders, looking after young children.

It meets Ofsted requirements for registered childminders and the requirements for nannies under the Approved Carers Scheme. It can also be used as evidence for employees working towards an NVQ in Childcare and Education.

Course Duration/Qualification

The course is usually delivered over 2 day (12 hours training)

The course requires three practical assessments and a written theory assessment (multiple choice) to achieve the required standard. The course is complete with a first aid manual per student. At the end of the course students will gain a Level 3 Qualification with Certificate and ID Card.

Course Cost

The cost of the course is £90.00 plus vat per person and includes tea, coffee, juice, water and biscuits throughout the course (if delivered at our training centre in Hull. We can come out to your site and deliver the training subject to conditions being right for the learners and suitable provisions available but this can be discussed at booking.
